This is another Mahogany longcase clock that I have recently finished, Georgian early 1800's. Typical of this type of clock the base has at some stage been smashed by the weights and was completely missing. Most of the required work was around the base which was rebuilt and re-blocked. There were other small repairs and minor losses that needed attention. The polished figured mahogany retained most it's original early 19th Century patina and only needed to be cleaned and waxed. Areas were the polish was worn or damaged were touched up and locally re-french polished. A serpentine shaped pediment caps a frieze that contains a panel of Verre Eglomise, (reverse painted and gilded glass) which is to be restored a a later date.
